Mission Statement 

boys team charity is a volunteer service organization dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men through active participation of parents and sons in philanthropic projects in their communities.
 

 


 Goals

  1. 1.  Serve the Community: Develop a sense of social responsibility.

Facts & Requirements

•  Boys are “TeamMates” and Parents are “Coaches

  Our annual operating year is May 1st through April 30th* 

  Prospective members may apply to join btc anytime during the annual membership drive in February/March for their upcoming 7th through 11th grade year. Boys are assigned to “teams” by the grade which they will enter in the fall of that membership year. 

•  There are approximately 26 boys in each team (by grade) with vacancies filled during annual membership drive by random draw as they are available. We maintain a waitlist of interested candidates should we not have openings in a particular team.

 

  btc The Oaks applicants are eligible for membership if living in an Oakland or Piedmont zip code.

  btc has three (3) General Membership meetings per year (typically May, September and January) that both the boy and parent(s) should attend; two (2) are required 

  btc has three (3) additional grade level meetings per year that the boy only should attend; two (2) are required

  Annual minimum Philanthropy Service Hours requirements for both boys & parent(s): 

  •             Grade  7, 8, & 9........................15 hours each*
                Grade 10, 11, & 12....................10 hours each*

 

  • •   Annual minimum League Hours requirements for both boys & parent(s): 6 hours minimum each (earned by attending general or grade level meetings as mentioned above)

    Annual Volunteer requirements: btc is a volunteer organization that is operated exclusively by parent volunteers. Parents are expected to volunteer side by side with their son(s) as well as serve the league in some capacity (on a committee, on the board, etc.) at some point during their years in btc.

  Annual Financial Requirements:
                   TeamMate plus one or two Coaches (parents)......…$150*
                   
Additional TeamMate.......................................….$75*

*Membership dues are non-refundable


At the close of the membership drive, all applicants are sorted by their appropriate class on a first-come first-served basis.  If there are more applicants than space available in a class, the applicants will be selected by random draw to fill the class or, if necessary, placed on a waitlist.  All Prospective Member Applicants will be contacted about their status once classes have been determined. 

Legacies (siblings of current members) are automatic members.
